Voltaic Veins

I hadn't left the house in weeks. The figures I had seen across the river last month had managed to cross it, and roamed between houses, ripping down power lines. They seemed to be fascinated by them.
Electricity was gone, food supply was dwindling and the tap water had turned an odd colour. I knew I had to make a break for it. But I was too visible in the day, and they were invisible in the night.
